Contact BEwell*PLAYwell to discuss the full range of possibilities.

Therapeutic massage involves manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress. It also improves the functioning of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury or illness. In addition to the many physical benefits of giving or receiving a massage, there can be profound psychological effects that enrich both massage participants.

BEwell*PLAYwell offers the opportunity to learn a variety of massage types: Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Myofascial Release, Sports, Swedish, and Trager Psychophysical Integration. You can read full descriptions of the massage types on the Individual Sessions page.

In this class, you learn the basic massage strokes, proper draping, and good use of body mechanics. Additionally, you learn how to assess the receiver's history and preferences.

For a good massage, the receiver communicates their preferences and the giver competently performs basic massage strokes. In a great massage, a creative dance evolves between the giver, who is creating an artwork of delicious strokes, and the receiver, who is developing mindfulness of the moment. The focused intention of the giver is a primary ingredient that determines the effect of any approach, ranging from the simplest gesture of comfort to the many forms of bodywork. Learn to take your massage experience to the next level in this class.

The Art of Massage Club is designed for partners who have working knowledge of basic massage techniques and want to expand their skills. The class meets monthly, providing partners with a scheduled time for personal exchange within the hectic page of daily living. Weather permitting, the evening begins with a hot soak in the outdoor spa.

If you are serious about changing your lifestyle, consider this in-depth holistic approach that allows time for integrating techniques and plans of action into your life. Strategies, skills, and networking provide the necessary support to create and maintain lifestyle changes. Since behavior, moods, and thoughts are interrelated, re-structuring thought patterns is a key part of each week's agenda. About one third of each class is devoted to practicing a variety of techniques that can elicit the relaxation response. If you want to feel better, have more peace of mind, and focus on what is in your control, this course is for you.

Optimally, classes are delivered over a 4 to 8 week period. However, each class can stand independently or in various class combinations to suit your organization's time constraints and goals. Contact BEwell*PLAYwell to discuss the numerous options.

Yoga promotes balance, flexibility, strength, and relaxation through various postures and breathing techniques. Providing a haven from everyday stress, yoga can clear the mind, improve concentration, develop inner peace, and enhance your overall well being.

Kripalu yoga develops the body, mind, and spirit in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. Throughout Kripalu yoga's three-stage approach, you are guided to move at your own pace, honoring your body's needs in each moment.

Stage 1 begins with an experiential approach to understanding the details of alignment. It includes practicing the coordination of breath while moving into and out of postures.

Stage 2 guides you to focus your attention on inner sensations, thought, and emotions. You learn to hold postures for longer periods of time while cultivating compassion and awareness.

Stage 3 is called meditation in motion. It is a unique and personal expression of Kripalu yoga. You practice the art of moving in response to your body's wisdom, with postures flowing from one into the next.

Breath awareness and control are simple yet powerful techniques that can help connect you to your sensations, thoughts, and emotions. The resulting heightened awareness can set the stage for the conscious control of thought patterns, moods, and negative behaviors.

The four classes offer a unique opportunity to choose from a wide variety of scientifically proven techniques:

  • Aikido breathing
  • Breathwalk®
  • Quick Coherence®
  • Diaphragmatic breathing
  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Mini yoga pause
  • Relaxation response

“Awareness of and conscious control of your breath are important factors in all methods known to elicit the relaxation response. This state of profound rest can have lasting effects throughout the day if practiced regularly.”

The Wellness Book

DansKinetics is a joyful approach to fitness that emphasizes creative movement rather than technique and form. The class is for ANY-body and supports the freedom to move to your own rhythm while listening to uplifting music from a variety of eras. The class includes stretching and strengthening exercises and provides an opportunity to connect with others. Each class ends with yoga and guided relaxation, both of which elicit the relaxation response.

The relaxation response is a state of deep rest that changes your physical and emotional responses to stress. When practiced regularly, exercise relaxation response can have lasting effects, improving health and performance.
